Al's Gym - the Muay Thai Shop

Al Oakley and Elly Long  are both Thai Boxing teachers and running Thai Boxing clubs across Cornwall with the help of assistant instructors. Having spotted a niche opportunity to sell Thai Boxing clothing and equipment online Al and Elly launched their website in 2002.

Atlantic Blankets

When her daughter had chicken pox Jo Riley wanted a special kind of blanket to help her feel better but searching the web and catalogues provided no success. Jo realised that if she could not find these blankets then neither could anyone else so in October 2007 Jo launched the Atlantic Blankets web site.

Avant Garde Jewellery

Specialist in contemporary designer jewellery, Avant Garde, was launched by Diddy Reeve in 2002. The eCommerce site has tried to address a barrier to purchase in the gift market, which is that a prospective customer may lack confidence in deciding which piece the recipient would like, as jewellery is such a personal taste.

Leading surf shop that has expanded its online business with the help of actnow accelerator funding of £8600 to develop a fully integrated eCommerce website.

Internet based retail company selling the largest range of trampolines and play equipment in the UK, utilising a comprehensive e-commerce website.

Chris Hankey

Chris is an artist based at Towednack, near Penzance who specialises in seascapes and landscapes. With help from actnow, he connected to broadband and subsequently commissioned a website with an online shop for his paintings.

Equipped 4 Sport

A passionate sportsman and part time coach, Adrian Noott set up www.equipped4sport.co.uk in 2005 with assistance from actnow accelerator. Iinitialy sales from the site were quite low so he undertook an exercise to optimise the website for search engines and revamp the design and navigation. Within a month of making the changes sales increased by 800%.

Finisterre

Tom Kay set up Finisterre with the help of a loan from The Princes Trust and founded the brand to fill the gap he had identified within the surf industry for an ethically made, technical product.

A leap of faith in 2004 led Kurt and Lucy Jewson to leave their jobs, cash in their investments and establish a business inspired by their baby's bottom! Their new website went live in 2008 integrating the website shop with their ordering and stock control systems and making an incredible difference to the business.
