Camborne Show
Camborne Show is one of Cornwall’s many traditional agricultural shows .It takes place in July of each year and is a highlight on the rural Cornish social calendar.
The Camborne Show taking place at Gwealavellan Farm in 2008 will be the 66th.
With support from actnow reach, Camborne Show will be able to upgrade its website.
Show Secretary Ian Thompson says ‘The previous website was a very limited affair, with only a couple of pages of basic information.
The new website will be considerably more interactive and provide far more details as well as enabling people to make entries online. This will be a lot more convenient for people. The interactive site will also make it very easy for people to email us with any enquiries or queries they may have. It is often easier for people than phoning us within office hours and the additional convenience means that they are more likely to get involved.’
‘Nowadays, we are discovering that the website is the main method of information, so it is important that we do not sell ourselves short. The Camborne Show is a community event and we owe it to our agricultural community to publicise the Show as well as we can’
Ian concludes ‘Looking to the future, we want to continue to use the latest technology to promote this very traditional show and make it relevant to today’s and tomorrow’s public. Last year, a helicopter filmed the site from overhead and the film of the Camborne Show was posted on YouTube. That is an example of the way that ICT can be used to inject excitement into a traditional show and reach out to new audiences.. With the help from actnow, we are well on the way to putting ICT at the heart of our operation.’
