Neutralize

Neutralize, an award winning online marketing agency based in Camborne, helps companies use the internet more effectively for business. Specialising in enterprise search engine optimisation and advanced Pay Per Click management most of its work is done remotely and has benefited from a business broadband package.

"Using the internet to the extent we do allows us to undercut our competition," says managing director and co-founder Lucy Cokes.

"Our pricing model is based on the fact that we don't generally meet our clients, even though they are some of the biggest websites in the UK."

Until April 2002, when actnow was established, Neutralize used an ISDN connection, now, with a 1Mb ADSL broadband connection, internet access is faster and cheaper, saving them time and money.

"With broadband, all our processes are running 10 times faster, it means we can do jobs like running analytic reports on website positioning (interfacing with search engines to retrieve data related to clients), in one hour rather than one day."

"With the extra capacity from broadband, there are also plans to add videoconferencing and expand our software toolset for clients" adds Edward Cowell (Teddie), co-founder and technical director.

"We are developing our network which currently has servers in London, Texas and at our office in Tolvaddon, Cornwall, to give us better communication with our clients and resellers, and improve our relationship with the search engines such as Google, Yahoo! and MSN.

"We now employ 8 full-time staff members as well as using local contractors for specific project work. This year our turnover should exceed £1.5 million."

Recently Lucy Cokes beat hundreds of women entrepreneurs for a top three place in the Demeter category of the prestigious 2005 NatWest everywoman Awards.
