actnow reach
actnow reach was launched in May 2007 - a new actnow project aimed at boosting broadband use in rural Cornish communities that have not yet maximised the benefits of broadband.
The project is the first step towards achieving actnow's vision to see the benefits of broadband being enjoyed by every single man, woman and child in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Broadband makes it easier for people in rural areas to access services and easier for rural businesses to thrive.
The final deadline for all claims has now passed. All payments to claimants have now been made by BACS transfer. If you are still awaiting payment for a claim having checked your bank account please contact actnow.
For the voluntary sector actnow reach has brought:
Financial assistance and guidance to help 47 voluntary and community organisations connect to broadband
Financial assistance and advice to help 49 improve their efficiency through Information and Communications Technology
Advice and some financial assistance to help set up three community centres in Cornwall where the benefits of broadband have been promoted to local residents, including schoolchildren, the elderly and people with disabilities
For Businesses actnow reach has brought:
Financial assistance to 210 small and medium businesses in rural broadband priority zones to connect to broadband and make further investments in ICT. Forty BT telephone exchanges define the priority zones. To check which exchanges are covered and if you are connected to one, click here.
