Tregongeeves Farm Cottages
Judith Clemo is now in her tenth year of running Tregongeeves Farm Cottages – a collection of seven holiday cottages around a courtyard, offering a full range of onsite facilities, including tennis courts, swimming pool, spa and gym. "We decided that the Internet was the next facility we should offer" says Judith.
Each of the seven cottages is able to access broadband since Judith installed wireless broadband six months ago. "We have one guest who is a writer and wants to use her laptop in her cottage. She comes here because she knew that she can access broadband and carry on with her work in great surroundings. Nowadays, there are so many people who work from home. They can come and stay with us, work a few hours a day if they need to – and then spend the rest of the day enjoying the facilities and relaxing."
Judith continues "Our guests have been delighted. I have been quite surprised by how many people seem to use the wireless broadband. We had one gentleman well into his seventies who came out of the cottage carrying his laptop. It turned out that he writes the newsletter for a certain association and he was able to upload the newsletter to their website from his cottage.
"Even when people are on holiday, they still want to be able to keep in touch with everything these days. We get a lot of professional people staying and they never seem to want to completely switch off. For example, we had a visitor whose business involved designing swimming pools and he arranged a swimming pool for a client in France while he was staying at Tregongeeves Farm."
As well as promoting the in-cottage access, Judith plans to install a dedicated internet café at the site in time for the 2006 season.
"Wireless broadband is the future, the way forward. By offering it, we are able to deliver what our guests want" says Judith.
